Purpose of the Role:
The main purpose of the role is to be a key member of the Estimating Department (Contracts Division) in delivering profitability for the company.
Reporting directly to the Development & Bid Manager
Work closely with the Contracts Team
Monitor potential enquiries
Build relationships with new and existing customers
Maintain up-to-date market knowledge of labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
Prepare and send out sub-contract and material enquiries
Ability to produce a Bill of Quantities
Where required produce accurate take-offs
Price bills/schedules analytically and produce quote comparisons using conquest estimating software
Complete tender pricing, including reporting on any risks or onerous conditions, providing a winning edge
Liaise with Planning Manager to assess programme & preliminaries
Formulate bid strategy/qualifications
Present estimate to Bid Team
On secured projects prepare information for handover to the Contract Team
Assist in developing Company Estimating library
Check tender documentation
Measure tender against Decision Analysis
Enhance the company reputation
Act as an ambassador for the business
Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a main contracting construction company
Experience of working on Housing, Education, Retail, Industrial & Commercial projects
Excellent Excel Skills
Working experience of presenting technical and complex information
Excellent organisational skills
Able to work under pressure
Professional attitude and approach to work
