Scaffolding Estimator/ Business Development

Marshall Scaffold, Safety Netting, and Edge Protection (a division of Marshall Construction) are seeking an experienced Scaffolding Estimator with experience in business development to integrate into the existing business to work on new and existing client sites.
This a permanent, full-time position based out of Marshall Plant Offices in Alva.
The right candidate must be an experienced Scaffolder Estimator with a proven track record of carrying out a similar Scaffolding Estimating role. You will be pricing for projects with tier 1 principal contractors and other principal contractors including Marshall Construction’s own projects. The candidate will also be expected to develop new customers to add to its existing portfolio.
The successful candidate will be working closely with other members of the Scaffolding Department Management team.

Typical Duties shall include:

  • Attend meetings with existing and new clients.
  • Work alongside Scaffold Management to determine the scope of works for estimating and tendering purposes.
  • Assisting in the completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires.
  • Provide written quotations to clients.
  • Providing schedules of materials for delivery to sites to allow works to be carried out.
  • Liaise with the Scaffold Management team to identify additional works not allowed for in initial tenders and price/ recover costs accordingly.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years experience in the scaffolding industry with large, reputable scaffolding companies is desirable.
  • Well-versed in Kwikstage system scaffolding and traditional tube and fitting scaffolding.
  • You’ll need a broad base of skills, including written and verbal communication, relationship-building, mathematical and IT skills.
  • Enthusiastic, approachable, and creative
  • Able to approach challenges constructively and work with others to give the best possible customer service.

Necessary Qualifications

  • CISRS Part 2 Scaffolder
  • Full Driving Licence

Quantity Surveyor

Due to growth and success, Marshall Construction have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to apply themselves to one of Scotland’s foremost independent building contractors.

Summary of Role

We require a Quantity Surveyor to join our Contracts Division, where you will be responsible for managing site development and the attainment of targets by conducting commercial cost appraisals and viability/feasibility analysis, managing sub-contractors, materials and goods, preparing and monitoring site costs and budgets.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Managing costs on a wide variety of new build/renovation projects
  • Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements
  • Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans
  • Performing risk and value management and cost control
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Preparing and analysing costs for tenders
  • Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems
  • Allocating work to subcontractors
  • Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded
  • Appoint and administer sub-contractor to carry out works including subsequent agreement of final account
  • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments
  • Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
  • Develop sub-contract enquiry documentation understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
  • Liaise with the Estimating and Buying departments as necessary
  • Attend Client Meetings
  • Attend Design and Value Engineering Meetings
  • Attend sub-contractor meetings
  • Produce periodic cost reports
  • Liaise closely with Site Management team in respect of day to day matters
  • Liaising with Clients / Employer’s Agent / Quantity Surveyor and agree interim valuations and final accounts
  • Ensure that interim valuations are submitted and paid on time

 Experience/key Skills

  • Appropriate level of qualification, HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Relevant and up to date CSCS card
  • RICS accredited preferred, but not essential
  • Outstanding management skills and attention to detail
  • To communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Current and valid UK driving licence

Site Manager

Summary of Role

Site Manager for housing and commercial projects generally within the Central Belt of Scotland ranging in value from £5m – £18m.

As a Site manager you will plan, manage and control the day to day site activities of all site personnel ensuring completion of work within time and budget and in accordance to all company procedures and policies

 Role & Responsibilities

  • Produce Weekly Planning/ Lookahead Programmes to schedule trades and agree this with sub-contractors, including resource requirements.
  • Liaise with multi-utility/statutory providers to ensure that mains and services are installed/diverted/re-located in line with programmed requirements.
  • Carry out routine inspections to ensure that instructions are carried out, the specification and the required quality standards are met.
  • Implement Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Proactively review drawings/ specifications and produce RFI’s in a timely manner to allow works to progress without delay.
  • Request and ensure Architects Instructions are issued.

Experience/key Skills

  • Previous Site experience is essential managing £5m – £18m projects.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation.
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Team commitment.
  • Demonstrates eye for detail and commitment to delivering excellent standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Professional attitude and approach to work.
  • Current and Valid UK driving licence.
  • Trades background preferred
  • Up to date SMSTS Training and CSCS Card

Marshall Roofing/Cladding

We currently have positions available for 2 full time bituminious felt roof installers, the candidates would be based within the central region and be expected to have a working knowledge of most flat roof systems.

Installing Single Ply and Liquid Systems would also be an advantage.

You would be expected to work alongside our current installation crews on major projects and also carry out general maintenance works on a regular basis.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience would be required

We require the candidates to be hard working, enthusiastic and willing to go the extra mile when required.

Rates offered will depend on experience.

A clean driving licence is required.
