It’s founder, John Marshall OBE, was recognised in 1996 for his contribution to the construction industry and the Clackmannanshire community, values that still guide the company today.
Now a leading building and civil engineering contractor with a £65m+ turnover, Marshall Construction continues to thrive as a family-run business, built on integrity, quality, and a commitment to community.

Robert Marshall
Robert Marshall, Chairman of Marshall Construction, began his journey as an apprentice plasterer at 16 and has been integral to the company’s success ever since. Since taking ownership in 2001, he has shaped its structure, driving growth to £65m+ turnover. With hands-on experience across all levels and project scales, he champions a culture of learning and development – believing no job is beyond his own experience or expectations.
Managing Director
Brian McDermott
Since joining Marshall Construction in 2017, Managing Director Brian McDermott has brought over 40 years of industry experience, from hands-on trades to senior leadership. He has led diverse projects across commercial, social housing, rail, hotels, petrochemicals, and large-scale refurbishments. A results-driven leader, Brian excels in team management, problem-solving, and commercial strategy, ensuring efficient, high-quality project delivery. Committed to safety and excellence, he holds multiple industry certifications and plays a key role in driving Marshall Construction’s growth and success.

Gordon Boal
Gordon Boal is the Finance Director at Marshall Construction, also bringing over 30 years of diverse experience across various sectors, including construction, retail, property, and auditing. Joining Marshall Construction in 2010, Gordon has played a key role in shaping the company’s financial strategy and ensuring its continued success. His broad expertise in business management allows him to drive financial efficiency, improve cash flow, and provide insightful decision-making support across all levels of the business. With a strong background in both financial oversight and strategic planning, Gordon’s leadership continues to help Marshall Construction navigate complex financial landscapes and sustain growth.
