Marshall Construction have invested time and resources to develop a skilled, experienced, qualified workforce. This commitment starts with our Apprenticeship scheme that has been established over 20 years and provides a structured scheme to train and introduce young men and women into our tried and tested procedures that enables us to achieve and maintain our high quality standards. Some of today’s senior managers started their careers as Marshall Apprentices and many now form the bedrock of our competent workforce.

Our management team consists of experienced managers in all disciplines, most qualified to degree level and all holding the latest Health & Safety certification relative to their position. Membership of Professional Bodies and a commitment to Continuous Professional Development is encouraged. We provide opportunities to develop skills through the NVQ System with all managers now achieving Level 4 in their field.



Marshall Construction was founded in 1983 by Mr John Marshall, OBE. The company’s first premises were in Moss Road, Tillicoultry where the business grew under Mr Marshalls leadership from a small contracting company working mainly in the domestic market to a General Building Company with an annual turnover of £21m.


Managing Director

Robert Marshall started with Marshall Construction at the age of sixteen as an Apprentice Plasterer. He has worked in various positions in the company throughout his adult life and now has the position of Managing Director, having taken over the ownership & running of the company in 2001.  Robert continued to develop the business and embarked upon an expansion and diversification programme that took the company into areas such as house building, major construction, plant and scaffolding.  Under Roberts astute leadership and guidance has taken Marshall Construction to a turnover of £41m.


Health & Safety Director

Robbie Cooke joined the company in 1993 after serving in the Royal Navy for twenty years. After a settling in period working in Health & Safety he completed a NEBOSH Diploma and an MBA with the Open University and was then promoted to director with the HR Role as part of his responsibilities.

He is the immediate Past President of the Scottish Building Federation.


General Building Director

Alex Hutchison was appointed as General Building Director in 2004 after managing the department for 24 years and is responsible for overseeing the General Building Department . His extensive experience and understanding of clients requirements for planned maintenance and repairs, ensures that his department delivers a complete service from initial enquiry to hand over.
